Stargardt disease
Stargardt disease is an inherited retinal disorder caused by mutations in the ABCA4 gene. This causes progressive central vision loss, often beginning in youth. Current management focuses on low vision aids and avoiding excess light exposure. In contrast, our stem cell treatment has shown benefit to retinal pigment epithelium cells and photoreceptors, actually improving vision. Our published results show over 94% of patients have improvement of stability of their vision.
